Manuel F. Remotigue was born in the town of Argao, Cebu, Philippines on June 17, 1893. His parents are Quintino G. Remotigue
and Segundina V. Famor.
Manuel was first married to Catalina Tanato sometime in 1910 and first settled in the town of Argao. Their marriage was
blessed with 2 children namely: Jesus and Felisa. Catalina died sometime in 1920 to some unknown illness.
Sometime after the death of Catalina, Manuel with his family migrated to Tangub City, Philippines. There he met Natividad
Enriquez who had recently migrated from the town of Guihulngan, Negros Oriental, Philippines. They were married sometime
in 1923 in Tangub City. They had 5 children in their marriage namely: Quintino, Fermina, Rita, Paterna and Tiberius.
The whole family move to Pagadian City in 1928. It was in Pagadian City that Manuel was able to acquire agricultural
lands from the government and private individuals. These lands he laboriously development into a suitable land for agricultural
crops and trees. The main financial income of the family was from the sale of agricultural produce.
Natividad died on Mar. 27, 1954 at the age of 51 in Pagadian City. Soon after that Manuel marries again. He married Gregoria
Enriquez in Pagadian City. They were not able to have any children.
Manuel was a pillar in the community. He was activily involved in the social, religious, and political activities in
Pagadian City. He had been elected and able to served several terms of office as a member of the legislative
council. He was one of the foremost poineers of Pagadian City that greatly contributed in the growth of the city.
And in recognition of his contributions and past efforts, the city government gave him posthumously a certificate
of recognition last January 2000. Manuel died on Dec. 10, 1978 at the age of 85 in Cebu City. The next year, on Sept.
12, 1979, Gregoria died at the age of 67.
